Holland Colours offers highly dispersed colorants based micro crystalline/paraffin waxes, ensuring maximum colour strength and consistent batch-to-batch processing. Over the years, cheese waxes have increasingly been used to protect and promote hard and semi-hard cheeses. The wax provides not only a fully sealed barrier coating, but also an attractive appearance with special color and controlled gloss. Important aspects are:

• Dispersion degree of the pigments
• Sedimentation
• Colour stability in the molten wax
• Contact bleeding into the cheese

As a matter of fact with conventional pigments and micro crystalline or paraffin based liquid colorants full wetting of the pigments and subsequent dispersion cannot be achieved. Low shear rates during mixing don’t allow breaking down pigment agglomerates. The presence of not dispersed pigment particles cause colour strength reserve, therefore colour inconsistencies batch per batch.
